Donegal ETB

A black and yellow machine in a factory.

Initial Challenge:

Donegal ETB is one of the leading providers of welding traineeships in Ireland. They continually invest in their programs to guarantee that their trainees are at the forefront of the latest industry technology so they can successfully.

We launched Ireland first Robotic Welding Operator course in 2019 so had first-hand knowledge of designing a cell setup that would suit an educational environment.

Complexities in the project:

The cell requirement was to provide a system that was capable of welding Carbon Steel-Stainless Steel-Aluminium for flat plate & pipe work plus Carbon Pipe with Mig Root run and Flux Core Fill and cap in 5G Position.

The Solution:

Robot – Kuka KR8 R2100-2 Arc

Positioner – Kuka DKP-400 V1

Control – Beckhoff Interface and Safety structure

Weld Power Source – Fronius TPS 400i

Smart tech – ASR60-A FIPA Quick change head integration

Software – Kuka SimPro

Fixturing – Procided to suit the 2 axis positioner setup
